Frequently Asked Questions!

General Information

1. What is Angel Food Ministries?

Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief to communities throughout the USA.

2. What is the cost of the food?

A box of Angel Food can be purchased for $30.

3. What is the retail value of the box of food?

Depending on your location, a box retails anywhere from $45 to $75 with an average retail value of right around $60. (For California Value ranges from $70 to $90).

4. How much food is in a box?

An average box of food weighs around 21 lbs. The weight may differ each month. A box of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month.

5. Is the food fresh?

Because of Angel Foods involvement with only the best producers and venders our products are high quality, “name brand” foods - never “seconds” or “day old type” products. Each month’s food menu consists of both fresh and frozen items.

Angel Food Ministries produces a monthly menu to inform customers of what food items will be available a full month in advance.

8. How much food may I purchase?

There is no limit on the number of boxes an individual or family may purchase. Angel Food Ministries also offers the purchase of one or more “Special Units” when buying a regular box of food. The “Specials” are mostly savings on meat boxes. (Special #1: 4lb. Steak Box or Special #2 8 - 8oz. Rib Eye Steaks for $20.00.)

9. Do I need to qualify for the program?

There are no applications or qualifications, anyone can participate. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp Program, using the Off-Line Food stamp Voucher system. This ensures that the needy in your area are getting the maximum value for their grocery dollar, usually resulting in their receiving twice the amount of quality foods for their “food stamp dollar”.

10. Where do I purchase the food?

Food sales and distribution are handled by the local host sites. Most host sites are churches but other organizations such as The Salvation Army, VFW’s, and The Boy Scouts of America have participated. Visit the Force Of Hope EDC link to order.

11. What if there is not a host site in my area?

Angel Food Ministries is growing rapidly. We hope to soon be able to serve the entire U.S.A. Please contact our offices and speak with our Ministry Development Department for further details.

12. How do I place an order?

Orders and payments are collected by each individual host site during the first part of each month. The orders are then phoned, faxed, or place through the web-site to Angel Foods main office on what we refer to as “Call in Monday”.

13. Where do I pick up my order?

During the week, called “Distribution Week”, Angel Food Ministries begin loading the trucks that are scheduled to arrive at the host sites on what we call “Distribution Saturday”. Along with the many trucks that go out from our warehouse about 200 local host sites pick up their food Saturday morning from our facility in Monroe, Georgia.
